Objectives

The conference aims at foregrounding contexts and factors that were critical to the development and adaptation of Indian culture in South East Asia, propelled by nature of interactions and its syncretism in the indigenous society and vice versa.

. It intends to historicize the strands of developments that folded into South East Asian civilization. The conference shall also seek to bring to relief the corpus of historical and archaeological researches to showcase the common cultural elements in India and Southeast Asia. The conference will discuss the dynamics of regional and trans-regional trade that effected changes in the Southeast Asian societies during this period.

The conference shall basically strive to:

Enhance understanding of the linkages between India and South East Asian countries; foster critical understanding between people of both the regions leading to deeper integration of our societies.
Stimulate intellectual exchange on the historical and contemporary socio- cultural linkages that bind us, enabling us to acquire a better understanding of our shared heritage and histories.
Preserve, protect and restore elements representing the civilizational bonds between India and Southeast Asia.
Augment the cultural and intellectual exchanges and people-to-people contacts that remains a thriving dynamic of Indo-Southeast Asia relations today.
